Our approach
Email is the most underrated marketing channel for relationship-driven law firms. Done properly, it does more work than every other channel combined: more traffic, more replies, more shares, and a list you actually own.
-
It's the channel that starts conversations
A well-aimed email to a list of clients and referrers produces infinitely more high-value replies than other digital marketing efforts. Not cold replies from strangers. Real ones, from people who already know the partner, asking a question, raising a matter, or suggesting a coffee. Social posts get likes. Emails get conversations.
-
It's how you stay in front of people between referrals or matters
A referrer who hears from a partner every six weeks, with something worth reading, remembers them when the matter lands. So does the past client. So does the prospect who isn't ready to engage anyone yet but will be in eighteen months. Nothing else does that job as consistently, not LinkedIn, not search, not advertising.
-
The list is the asset
Social platforms own your audience and change the rules whenever they want. The email list is yours. Built properly over years, it can be the most valuable marketing asset the firm has to support its relationships and reputation. We treat it that way.
What we do
The work that keeps the firm's email programme consistent, well-written, and earning its place in the inbox.
-
Strategy and planning
- Audience and list strategy: who you're writing to, what they want from you, and how often.
- Editorial calendars across the year, mapped to the firm's content, events, and partner activity.
- Segmentation: clients, referrers, prospects, alumni, treated differently because they read differently.
- Campaign planning for launches, events, and one-off pushes.
-
Writing and design
- Newsletter writing in the partner's voice.
- Legal updates and client alerts written so a non-lawyer referrer would actually read them.
- Event invitations, reminders, and follow-ups.
- Firm announcements: new partners, new offices, recognition, milestones.
- Designed email templates that match the firm's brand and hold up across devices.
-
Build, send, and management
- System selection and setup.
- Technical setup advice so your email marketing doesn't put the deliverability of your day-to-day firm email at risk.
- List management: importing, cleaning, segmenting, and keeping the database in order.
- Build, test, schedule, and send for every campaign.
- Permission-based obligations handled properly: consent, unsubscribe mechanics, and the rest of what keeps the list legitimate.
- Reporting on what actually matters: open rates, click-throughs, replies, unsubscribes, and the conversations that start as a result.
-

How we deliver it
Email marketing happens inside an engagement model. Most firms come to us through one of these.
-

Fractional CMO & team
Ongoing email programme as part of the firm's marketing function. Newsletters, event campaigns, legal updates, list management, all running on a consistent rhythm without anyone in the firm having to project-manage it. Best for firms that need email happening week to week without thinking about it.
-

Projects, campaigns & tasks
Discrete email work on a fixed-fee or hourly basis. A platform setup, a template build, a single campaign, a list migration. Best for firms with their own marketing function who need specific work delivered.
-

Training & workshops
When the firm wants to build the capability in-house. Hands-on sessions for in-house marketers, EAs, or the partners themselves on writing newsletters, running campaigns, managing the list, and using the platform properly. Best for firms with someone in the seat who's ready to run it themselves.
-
How does our law firm get started with email marketing?
Most firms come to us one of three ways. An ongoing programme as part of a fractional engagement, newsletters, event campaigns, list management, all running on a steady rhythm without anyone in the firm project-managing it. A defined piece of work, a platform setup, a template build, a single campaign, a list migration. Or training, when your in-house team or the partners want to run it themselves. If you're not sure which fits, tell us where your firm is and we'll point you to the right one.
-
Which email platform should we use?
The one that fits your firm. For most firms we work with, Campaign Monitor or Mailchimp is plenty: reliable, easy to use, well-supported. HubSpot or ActiveCampaign make sense when email is part of a broader CRM and automation setup. We recommend a solution based on your situation.
-
Can you sort out our existing list?
Yes. Most firm lists have dead addresses, duplicates, and no segmentation. We clean it, segment it, and get it into proper order before anything substantial goes out. The first proper send to a properly managed list is often a step-change on what came before.
-
Are there compliance issues we need to worry about?
Yes, and we help you stay on top of them. Unsubscribes are managed automatically, so anyone can opt out cleanly and the list stays in good order. We can also walk you through the practical side of who can be emailed and why it matters, so the firm understands where its list stands.
