Why firms choose us
Training built and delivered by senior legal marketers. We've run these sessions for firms, associations, and law societies across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
-
Built for your firm, not off the shelf
Every session uses examples from your practice areas, your market, and firms your size. A property team in Melbourne gets different material from an IP practice in Singapore. The principles hold; the examples have to land.
-
Delivered by people who've done the work
The person running the session has run marketing inside law firms and built it for a hundred more. When a lawyer asks "does this actually work?", the answer comes with examples, not theory.
-
Sessions that respect billable time
Training runs as one-hour lunchtime sessions. Workshops are a half day, and attendees leave with a plan, not a folder of slides. We don't pad an hour of content into a full day.

What we train on
Every session is built to brief. These are the subjects we've run most, for firms, associations, and law societies across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
-
Marketing fundamentals for lawyers
Why marketing professional services is different, how people buy legal work, where the marketing function ends and the lawyer's role begins, and what high-performing firms actually spend. The grounding session for lawyers who've never been taught the commercial side of practice. A strong fit for pre-partner cohorts.
-
Winning referrals
How clients actually choose a lawyer, and the hierarchy of where new work really comes from. Then the playbook for pursuing referrer relationships deliberately rather than waiting: setting a focus, knowing the trigger events that send a client looking, working out who sees those triggers first, and offering referrers something more useful than another coffee. Runs as the half-day Referred workshop, or shorter sessions on any part of it.
-
Profiles and online reputation
Before a prospect calls, they search, and what they find either confirms the recommendation or quietly kills it. What comes up when someone searches a lawyer's name, the gap between a partner's real-world reputation and their online one, and why the profile page is the most important asset for converting a referral into a conversation: it has to prove competence and compatibility, and most prove neither. LinkedIn covered properly, as a working tool rather than an obligation.
-
Positioning and choosing a niche
Clients want experts, not generalists, and removing competition makes everything easier: recruitment, referrals, pricing, relationships. The case for focus, the frameworks for finding it, and how to choose a niche without giving up work you want. Runs well as a partner group workshop, where the room leaves with a position rather than a discussion.
-
AI for legal marketing
Hands-on, built around what's actually worth doing. How to give AI proper context about a partner's practice so the output is usable rather than generic, how to use it to map and pursue referral partnerships, and where it genuinely takes the grunt work out of BD. Lawyers use the tools in the session. We separate what works now from what's hype.
-
Content that proves expertise
Most firms have more proof than they publish. Turning matters already done into case studies, deal sheets, and thought leadership, getting more from each piece by repurposing it properly, and the difference between content that fills a news page and content that converts the reader checking you out.
-
Cross-selling and existing relationships
The work is often already inside the firm; it's just not moving between practice groups. The real barriers, which are rarely about willingness: lawyers who lack confidence making the introduction, who don't know what their colleagues actually do, or whose incentives quietly punish sharing. Then the mechanics of internal referrals that happen in practice, not just in the partnership agreement.
-
Which session is right for us?
Training is a one-hour skills session for a group of lawyers, usually pre-partner, building marketing capability. The Referred workshop is three hours with a group, and everyone leaves with a referral plan for their practice. Workshops are typically a half day on a specific question your firm needs solved, positioning, cross-sell, a referral strategy. If you're not sure which fits or if you need something custom, let's have a conversation and we can provide you with some options and a recommendation.
-
How do you tailor a session to our firm?
We build every session to brief, using examples from your practice areas, your market, and firms your size. Before a session we'll ask what your group is working on and where the gaps are, then match the material to it. That's the difference between training that lands and a generic deck.
-
Where do you deliver training?
Anywhere. We run sessions in your office, at an offsite venue, or virtually. Travel in metro Melbourne is included in the price, and travel anywhere else is quoted at cost, with no margin added.
-
How many people can attend?
Unless we agree otherwise, we recommend caps of up to 20 for training sessions and up to 8 for workshops, including the Referred workshop. Workshops are capped because attendees build a plan in the room, and that doesn't work with thirty people. For less interactive sessions, closer to a speaking engagement, we can take a larger group, and that's something Paul offers too. If you've got a bigger group, talk to us and we'll structure something that fits.
-
When is payment due?
Payment upfront to confirm the booking. If you're running an ongoing programme or a series, we'll structure it across the sessions. For anything non-standard, we'll work out during the proposal.
-
Do sessions qualify for CPD/CLE points?
In most instances, yes. Marketing and BD skills sessions generally qualify under practice management or professional skills, depending on your jurisdiction. We can help you confirm eligibility for your session and give you what you need for your records.
-
Can we record the session?
Yes, for internal use. Plenty of firms record so lawyers who missed it can catch up, or so new starters can watch it later. We just ask that recordings stay inside the firm.
-
Can you train our in-house marketer?
Yes. We run working sessions for in-house marketing teams on specific skills and systems: email platforms, online reputation, AI tools, whatever they're taking on. Hands-on, in your own tools and accounts, so they can run it themselves afterwards.
-
Can you build a session on a topic that isn't listed?
Usually. The topics on this page are where firms most often need help, not a fixed menu. If it's marketing or BD for a relationship-driven firm, we can probably build it. If it's outside what we do well, we'll say so.
-
Is this a one-off, or can training be ongoing?
Either. Plenty of firms book a single session. Others run a programme: a session a quarter for the lawyers, or a structured series for a graduate or senior associate cohort. Ongoing training can also sit inside a Fractional CMO & team engagement.
